I haven't looked at this site in a while. Excuse the delay.
I would love to know how the Rowden's & Patton's are linked. My grandfather was Charles Frederick Patton. b.1892, one of eight children to Allen D. Patton and Cora Vanausdoll. Married in Jersey Co, Illinois 11/11/1885.Allen, b. 7/1861, was possibly the first child of Mary Jane Rowden. In 1860 she was living with her parents, Abram and Tamelia Rowden in Jersey Co.,Il.(The census was in Aug 1860, so she probably wasn't with child then)Sometime between then and when Allen was born, she married? In 1865 state census, he is listed as A. Rowden. age 4, living with Abram. Then in the 1870 census, Allen is listed as Allen Brookens, age 9, living with Abram Rowden. So, it is very frustrating. In viewing the Jersey County Marriage Records, Allen stated his father - (looks like)Judson Patton, mother - Rowden.
In 1860, Maria Rowden, age 11, was living with Gideon Patton on his farm. This could be a link?
By the way, I have an old photograph of Mary Jane Rowden. And another of Allen and Cora with my grandfather when he was a baby.
Any help I would appreciate it.From anyone who knows these names.
