Greetings,
I am researching my Rowden family line to discover who my great-great grandfather was. My great-grandfather, Phillip Charles Rowden, born April 1872, was the son of Mary Jane Rowden, born about 1841 and the daughter of Abram and Tamelia Rowden. Abram was either the son of William Echols or Nathaniel Rowden.
Mary Jane had married a Riley Lovel, a Patton (whose son was Allen D. Patton, b. 1861), a Brookens (whose son was Andrew J. Brookens, b. 1868), a Rowden (possibly a cousin - this is the great-great grandfather I am looking for-father of Phillip Rowden, b. 1872) and a Burr (or Charles) Cox, father to Charles(b. 1878) and William "Buff" Cox(b.1881).
Mary Jane was born in Jersey County, IL, lived in Maries County, MO, Monroe County, IL, Joplin, MO, and finally Cherokee County, Kansas when she died some time after 1920. She was living with son Phillip Rowden at the time of her death.
I would be interested in any information on Mary Jane and her roots, especially regarding the father of Phillip.
