I have a couple of questions regarding Harden Rowden (27 Oct 1815 - 28 May 1877), son of William Echols Rowden and the former Mary Levina Pruitt. 1) How many Harden Rowden's resided in Jersey Co IL at the same time? 2) Who does the child Jane (1850 census) the daughter of? In the 1850 census Harden Rowden is listed with his wife Lucretia (m 2 Feb 1840 Jersey Co IL and name given as Mrs Lucretia George) and 7 children (Jane, William, Miles, Lavina, Polly, James and Columbus). Jane is listed as being 13 years of age placing her birth in 1836 or 1837. Since Harden and Lucretia didn't marry until 1840 it's hard to determine if Jane was a Rowden girl or a George girl. The Jersey Co IL records have the following marriages recorded where a Harden Rowden was the groom - ROWDEN, HARDEN PROWE, JANE 07/02/1855 A /158 JERSEY ROWDEN, HARDIN GEORGE, LUCRETIA (MRS) 02/02/1840 A /155 1840-35 JERSEY ROWDEN, HARDIN HUNTER, MARY 10/07/1842 A /3 JERSEY It appears that there were two Harden Rowden's. Not having any information on the brothers or nephews of William Echols Rowden, I'm hoping that someone who is researching the entire Rowden family can shed some light on my questions. Thank you in advance. FYI - My interest in the William Echols Rowden family comes from his wife Mary Levina Pruitt being a granddaughter of my 5th gr-grandparents Martin Pruitt and his 1st wife the former Mary Wood(s).
