John Rowan and his wife Mary came to Quebec from Ireland about the time of the Great Famine. I don't know if they were married in Ireland or in Quebec. All of their children, except the youngest, Kathleen, were born in Quebec. My records don't show whether it was Quebec City or Quebec Province. They were living there at least from about 1856 (when Andrew was born) until about 1866 (when Alexander was born).Andrew's death certificate says he came to the U.S. in 1865, which would mean some of the family remained in Canada. The rest came later, when they apparently settled in Dakota County, Minn. and where Kathleen was born in 1869.
