Jo,
I'm going to have to go back and find my refernce to Garnett, but all the recent information is convincing me that it is indeed Garner, after her grandmother's maiden name. I'd love to find a copy of William ROUTT's will, it might shead more light on the situation with Capt? John WALLER. There is a great WALLER website that has some information on Capt. John, including a biography that includes his will, wherein he leaves ten cents to each of his children. By that time, 1823, Garner had already moved to Daviess County, Indianna. As the story goes, ol' Capt. John owned a tavern in Bourbon County, and enjoyed his products just a little too much. It's actually a sad story for the descendent of a prominant Virginia family to slide to such depths. RG
