Bob. Hello.

I'm desperately looking for info on PETER ROUTT of Stafford County born circa 1708 in Northumberland County.

In his 1765 will, Peter Routt gave a mulatto girl named Margaret "Peggy" Lynam to his daughter Hannah Routt Withers, and a mulatto boy named Francis Lynam to his son William Routt. .

I'm looking for any info on those two mulatto children, who less than ten years later were enumerated as free persons of color.

Records that suggestion transactions of any kind between the Routt and Lynam families would be greatly appreciated. I'm assuming the mulatto children were products of a white indentured servant and a man of color.

There was a John Lyneham living in Northumberland County circa 1680, but I can't find him after that. Apparently, there a house in that county named in his honor. I'm wondering if the Routt and Lyneham families had dealings.

Thank you.
