The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, December 27, 1906 The remains of the late GEO. B. ROUTT, arrived in Chariton, Friday evening, and the funeral was held on Sunday from the M.E. Church, conducted by Rev. N Evans. MR. ROUTT died at the home of his daughter, MRS. W.W. WILLIS, at Everton, Arkansas, on the 20th inst., his fatal illness being complications peculiar to old age. His family consists of six sons and three daughters, his wife having died several years since. Six of his children were present at the funeral: JOHN and HENRY, of Des Moines; WILL and GEORGE, of Omaha; ROBERT, of Wichita, Kansas; and MRS. HELEN ANDREWS, of Centerville Iowa. He was well known in Lucas County where he resided and for several terms was the City Assessor of the Town of Chariton. A more extended history of his life will be given later but briefly the following data is given: He was born at Green Castle, Indiana, January 19, 1827, and came to Lucas County, Iowa in 1858, residing here until 1891; was married to AMY A. WHEELER in 1860.
