The Chariton Patriot, Chariton, Iowa Wednesday, September 30, l874 HIGH WATER: -- The heavy rains of last week caused the Chariton to overflow its banks. On Saturday and Sunday it looked like a first class river. ROUTT's brick yard was flooded and a kiln of 90,000 brick just ready to be burned, tumbled down a complete wreck. LIVERMORE's farm was partially covered with water and it stood several feet deep around his grain stacks. JACOB KULL has twenty acres of corn under water. All the low lands along the creek for miles were flooded, and more or less damage done to grain and hay stacks and corn fields. Such a heavy flood at this season is rather rare. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert October l7, 2003 http://www.rootsweb.com/~iadecatu Notify Administrator about this message?
