Roussel book, will you be in it?
I am presently working on a major project to produce some 25 family genealogy books for the year 2004 and your family will have a book produced. In order not to omit anyone I would greatly need your assistance in obtaining your immediate family tree with all of its dates and any family pictures such as wedding, reunions, etc., if you have them.
A little bit of information about myself: my name is Lowell Mallais and I live in the beautiful Acadian Peninsula or to be more exact: Tracadie-Sheila NB Canada. When I look back on my little hobby, it blows my mind that how in 9 yrs of work I have accumulated an extensive database of over 200,000 names of persons and/or their ancestors who were born, who died and were married in northern New Brunswick, or as we say, the "Acadian Peninsula". I have copied every record dating before 1920 back to the first settlers from over some 40 churches. These records pertained to the baptisms, the deaths (including cemetery head stone information) and all marriages. In essence, I am searching all families from this area. Also, I have information from other areas such as Bouctouche NB and all the Bastarache's locatd there because they are of the same descendants as the family Basque in our are.
Since the early 1900 a lot of Acadian descendants from our area left to find work all over North America and this message is an opportunity/chance to reach as many of them as possible.
Why 2004? Well this year will be the 400th anniversary of the Acadian people's existence in North America. Did you know the Acadians were the first settlers after the Indians or correctly speaking "First Nations" people? The Acadians have been here since 1604, three years later in 1607 was the first settlement of Jamestown, Virginia and in 1608, the founding of Québec City. This is why I have trade-marked the phrase "Seconde Nation" or in English "Second Nation" being second only to our native brothers!
Getting back to my project, Roussel will surely be one of the family books produced because I have over 2300 in my database. (3000 is what I need to put out a decent book).
Hoping to hear from you, I thank you in advance for any information and to those who
have already: a special thanks for future prosperity and in their assistance in documenting the Acadian genealogy of North America!
Please e-mail me at: [email protected] and I will contact you with the next step in
obtaining from you, the information on your family tree.
