With the fact that the Rouse name is categorized as Anglo-Norman (definitely not Irish), is it possible the name arrived with the Norman invasion in the 12th century?Or a later date from England after having been anglicized? On a related note, it's good to know there are several Rouses in Counties Mayo and Sligo. My great-great grandfather Michael Rouse, his wife Mary Mulroney and at least two sons arrived in Canada circa 1833.One son was documented as being born in Mayo.I believe Mary Mulroney (d/o Simon Mulroney & Catherine Durkin)was from Sligo.Perhaps someone can help me make a connection in Ireland.
