In 1792, Jefferson County, Tennnessee was formed from parts of Greene and Hawkins counties.
The 1800 tax list for Jefferso County lists as follows :
Taxable property - Company of Capt. Copeland
ROULSTONE - Mathew 350 acres, white polls, none, Moses and William, white polls.one each, no land taxable
