I am working on a huge ROTHROCK family tree.Contact me to trade information. [email protected]
Capt. John ROTHROCK (1778-1865) was the 8th of 11 children of Jacob ROTHROCK (1741-1817) who married Barbara WELLER (1747-1802) in 1765 at York, York County, Pennsylvania.
The family moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1782 where both parents died.
Capt. John ROTHROCK was born 27 Apr 1778 in Pennsylvania and died 14 Jul 1865 at Baltimore, Maryland. It is not known who his first wife was.John was a Captain of the 38th Infantry during the War of 1812, commissioned 20 May 1813.John and his first wife had five children:
1.John Ephraim ROTHROCK (1816-1846).He was a Doctor and died at Natchitoches, Natchitotches Parish, Louisiana fighting yellow fever.Did he ever marry?
2.Jacob Albert ROTHROCK (1817-1841), nothing known of him.
3.Eleanora Ann ROTHROCK (1821-1821)
4.Thomas Mahoney ROTHROCK (1827-1902) married Martha BRANDT (1834-1888) and had three daughters. The family lived at Baltimore.
5.Elizabeth Ellen ROTHROCK (1828-1836)
After John's first wife died he married Margaret Ann AGNEW (b. 20 Aug 1807 in Maryland and died 18 Mar 1860 at Baltimore) on 09 Nov 1831 at Baltimore. In 1850 the family (John, wife Margaret and children: Thomas, Mary A., William, Joseph, Sarah, Catherine, Rachel and Robert)
was living at Ward 18, Page 34, City of Baltimore, Maryland with John listed as a tinner (listed as born in England!).I can't find the family on the 1860 Maryland census index.MARGARET was an orphan and was raised by a family named MAHONEY.This makes me believe that Thomas Mahoney ROTHROCK was her first child.JOHN and Margaret had the following children:
6.Mary Ann ROTHROCK (1833-1916) married Lloyd W. EMMART (1829-1907) in 1852 at Maryland. The family lived at Washington D.C. and they had four daughters.
7.William Henry ROTHROCK (1835-1922) (or Henry William?) married twice. The name of his first wife is not known. He married Margaret Ann STAYLOR (1852-1899) in 1877.They
were parents of three children: Florence Ann (1878-1939), Mary Ellen (1880-???), and John Thorpe ROTHROCK (1883-1934).The family lived at Baltimore, Maryland.
8.Joseph Merriken ROTHROCK (1837-c1925) married Sarah Lydia AVERY WILSEY (1843-1919) in c1884 in Iowa.Sarah's daughter Joseph V. WILSEY (1873-1956) evidentally
took the ROTHROCK name. She married Harwin Benjamin SHINN.This ROTHROCK family moved to Hardin County, Texas from Cedar Rapids, Iowa between 1900 and 1910.
9.George Washington ROTHROCK (1840-1840)
10.Sarah Ellen ROTHROCK (1841-1922) married Capt. William Alexander NOEL (1835-1916) in 1862 at Baltimore. The family lived at Baltimore. They were the parents of nine
children, of whom only two were living in 1910, namely: William Alexander NOEL Jr. (1868-???) and Leila Margaret NOEL (1869-c1939) (who married Pierce RADDEN).
11.Catherine Robinson ROTHROCK (1844-1861), nothing known.
12.Rachael Ann ROTHROCK (1846-1927) went by Annie and married James Wilson BROWN (1838-1920) in 1870 at Baltimore. They had nine children (1871-1891), the last of
whom died in 1985.The family lived at Baltimore.
13.John Robert ROTHROCK (1849-1909) married Kate DAVIS and had a daughter Winifred ROTHROCK.Nothing else is known of him.
