I've "rescued" an old photograph of Ida Elizabeth ROST MCDOWELL which was taken at the McIntire Studio in Canton, Ohio. The photograph was taken in 1880 and notes that Ida was born October 10, 1877 and was 3 years old at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I believe this is a photograph of Ida ROST the daughter of John & Elizabeth ROST who were living in Canton, Ohio during the 1880 census.
The census records indicate that John was 29 years old, born in Pennyslvania to Bavarian born parents and that Elizabeth was 28 years old born in Berne like both of her parents. Ida's place of birth is listed as Ohio and her father was a carpenter by trade. I'm assuming that Ida married into the MCDOWELL Family and that is why the second surname appears on the back of the photograph.
I was hoping to locate someone from this ROST Family so that this wonderful old photograph could be returned to the care of family, however, I was not successful so I have passed the photograph along to the Stark County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society in hopes that they will be able to find this family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact them.
