One line of my family tree is Rossman. This may or may not help, but it is information. My Rossman line immigrated to America in the early 1700's from the Palatine (Pfaltz) region of Germany. The name can vary greatly, as do many names from any other country. We Americans have a way of changing things to suit our comfort or convenience. Don't take that personally. Anyway, our name began as Roschman. I have heard of mutations like: Ross, Rosman, Rauschman, Rasmussen, etc. The Rasmussen variation seems to me to have a touch of Scandinavian influence, which would be near Germany. My line of Rossmans seem to be great wanderers. There are clusters of them here and there, but there always seem to be some who wander far and wide. Hope that helps some anyway!
