See what a little information can get you? Your grandfather is descended from one of the following brothers: Julien, Alexandre, Louis or Pierre Rossignol who all lived in the St-Léonard, Grand-Falls NB and Van Buren ME area. These brothers were the sons of:
-Jean-Alexandre Rossignol and of Angélique Caron, married 9-10-1810 at St-Roch-des-Aulnaies QC. Jean-Alexandre was the son of:
-Julien Rossignol and of Catherine Michaud, married 7-1-1771 at Kamouraska QC. Julien crossed the ocean blue in 1765 and first lived at St-André-de-Kamouraska QC. After he married he settled in St-Denis-de-Kamouraska where the land is still in the Rossignol family. He was the son of:
-Jan Rossignol and of Michelle Nicole, married 12-5-1732 at Sougéal, Ille-et-Vilaine, France. They lived in the hamlet of Le Poirier in Sougéal. Jan was the son of:
-Alexis Rossignol and of Perrine Taslé, married 27-7-1710 at Sougéal. Alexis settled in the hamlet of Le Poirier. He was the son of:
-Julien Rossignol and of Jacquette Dori, married before 1683, they lived in the hamlet of La Morissais in the parish of Antrain.
If your grandfather still lives, show this to him and see if you can't coax him to cough up his parents' names and his grandparents'. Impress upon him how important this is to you even if it's nothing to him. Tell him it's for his grandchildren and their grandchildren. Good luck, and let us know how it works out.
