Hi Chelle,
When I first saw your post, I was very hopeful that a direct descendant of George Ross, the Signer had emerged. However after a few days of digging, I’m not so sure. Please read the Ross GenForum post #0119 and also #10325, which mentions your Nelson. In addition, I checked the US Census and found that in 1880, Nelson listed his father’s birthplace as Canada. George Washington Ross, son of George Ross the Signer, was definitely born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
But what I can’t figure out is why your family has stories about GW’s disappearance? Please let me know if you have more information.
