George Ross and his wife Jane
lived in Allegheny, Westmoreland
and Armstrong Counties PA.
While he lived in West Deer Twp
of Allegheny Co in 1850, he was
in Parnassus by 1860, and finally
in Freeport Pa by 1880.
His children were baptised at the
Parnassus Presybterian Church
in 1859. The Mormons have a film
of a DAR Transcript of Parnassus
Presbyterian Church. There may be
2 different Ross lines in the
same church in Parnassus because
George Ross originates from West Deer
Township (one line) and other Ross
families from Logan's Ferry (another
line) also attend Parnassus Pres.
Church. (See postings here on the
Ross site at Genforum #11366 for
West Deer and #11391 for Logan's
Ferry for details.) Perhaps these
Parnassus Ross families ARE related?
George Ross is found on the 1850,
1860, 1870, and 1880 Census.

From DAR 1961 transcript of
selected cemeteries of Westmoreland
Co Pa we find a headstone marked:
REID Mc., son of George and Jane
Ross, d June 5,1870, aged 24 yrs.
4 mo. 7 days. at Mt Hope Cemetery.
No other Ross in this Cemetery.
Reid died 3 weeks after the census.

The Elk Home cemetery supposedly
has lots of unmarked graves, but
Isaac H or John A Ross may have
death certificates in Elk Co Pa
with "mothers maiden name"
of Jane Ross. May not be the same
boys baptised at Parnassus in 1859.
