I don't doubt that your family's ancestor was Martin Van Buren Ross. You certainly have plenty of evidence that proves that.
what I'm questioning is the line of descent:
You wrote:

John Ross, son of James, born abt 1731 probably VA
Martin Ross, son of James, born 1804, 1806 NC

From John Ross, son of James, b. c1731, VA, to Martin Ross, son of James, b. 1804-06, NC, is too long a period. That's 73 years! AND were there two Jameses in there? If so, that would make it a bit more plausible.

And I don't object to you being a descendant of Francis Ross, b. c1650, Scotland. It's just that I object to 73 years between generations.
