2. HANNA WILHELMINA2 ROSENGREN (MISTER1) was born Bef. 1877 in Finland, and died Bef. 1970 in Tacoma, WA. She married JOHN HOLM Abt. 1892 in Manistique, Michigan, son of FATHER HOLM and MOTHER (HOLM). He was born Bef. 1877 in of Manistique, Michigan, and died Bef. 1970 in Tacoma, WA.

Notes for HANNA WILHELMINA ROSENGREN:
Both Hanna and her sister Anna Rosengren immigrated to America when they were 18 years of age. Arrived separately. Hanna and friends had placed an ad in a Swedish-Finish newspaper, and somehow a correspondence began, which led to her (Hanna) arriving in Michigan to become John Holm's Bride.

We think the Rosengren descendants are living in or near Helsinki Finland.

Notes for JOHN HOLM:
John and Hanna (Rosengren) Holm, grandparents to Ethel Wilhelmina and E. Melvin Lund, lived first in Manistique, Michigan, where he worked as a lumberjack, and she as a camp cook. Their first child lived to 1 1/2- 2 years of age. Then Irene Ethel Theresa Holm (Later LUND) was born, April 13, 1894 in Manistique, Michigan. Elmer Holm was born in Tacoma, WA. He died at age 15 years from a knee bone injury that developed into tuberculosis of the bone. buried in Tacoma Cemetery. Irene Lund buried in Crypt at Tacoma Mausoleum, adjoining the Tacoma Cemetery. John, Hanna, sister Anna all at Tacoma cemetery.

Children of HANNA ROSENGREN and JOHN HOLM are:
i. Unknown Child3 Holm, b. Bef. 1893, Manistique, Michigan; d. Abt. 1895, Manistique, Michigan.
ii. Irene Ethel Theresa Holm, b. 04/13/1894, Ministique, Michigan; d. 06/29/1930, Tacoma, WA; m. Axel Isaac Lund, 01/27/1915, Tacoma, WA; b. 09/28/1892, Petalux Vasa, Finland; d. 10/1983, Portland, OR.

Notes for Irene Ethel Theresa Holm:
Then Irene Ethel Theresa Holm (Later LUND) was born, April 13, 1894 in Manistique, Michigan. Elmer Holm was born in Tacoma, WA. He died at age 15 years from a knee bone injury that developed into tuberculosis of the bone. buried in Tacoma Cemetery. Irene Lund buried in Crypt at Tacoma Mausoleum, adjoining the Tacoma Cemetery. John, Hanna, sister Anna all at Tacoma cemetery.

Irene died of an infection following a hysterectomy at the Tacoma, Hospital. Axel blamed the Doctor who preformed the surgery, since that man was a known drunk. Irene died from infection, only a couple years before the invention of penicillin.

Notes for Axel Isaac Lund:
Came to America in 1910, September. Inspection card through Liverpool, England dated August 25, 1910. name of Ship was "Tunisian". Last residence- Finland. Went by name of Axel Lund, then No. on ship's list or Manifest No. 20. Naturalization papers dated May 31, 1921, age 28 years then, Tacoma, WA, 2304 So. "K" Street. Entered US through Quebec, Canada. Was detained at entry point for 4 or 5 days because of eye tests. Lost contact with others in group, and had to travel on his own not knowing the English language at all. Originally had planned to stop over in Kenton, Michigan to see sister Ida (Lund) Johnson & family, but changed his mind and traveled by various trains to Butte, Montana where cousin Gust Mattson helped get him into the mining jobs. Soon was promoted to mining foreman, knowing very little English. Had to depend on his men to explain to him just what his supervisors wanted him to do in the contract. The supervisor wanted Axel to go with him to South America to work with him on a large job contract which came from England, offering a free 6 months training in a mining school at Butte, Montana, and a promise of very good pay. However, he wanted to learn more about America first, and the language. Also, he was reluctant to give up his new contacts he had made already in the States, the correspondence he had going with gal friends back in Finland, etc. One amusing incident happened during train changing along the route across the States. Having purchased several bananas which were a new fruit to him, and needing to conserve on space, he peeled the remaining bananas and carefully placed them on a clean handkerchief, then placed them in a coat pocket. Imagine his consternation at finding them as one big mess later on. After two years he had accumulated roughly about $800.00, which was a fairly good amount in those early days. this he thought would be a fair amount to bring back with him to Finland. However, he went on further west to Tacoma and Olympia, WA. Axel knew quite a bit about loading engineering from the mines, which let him on to become one of the best Log loading Engineers in and around Tacoma. He worked for Mud Bay logging Company near Olympia, WA. It was at one of these jobs that he contracted Typhoid Fever from bad drinking water. He entered Tacoma General hospital. The fever left him too weak to even wind his pocket watch, and with complete hair loss, which gradually grew back, full again as ever. The Swedish-Finish Baptist church Minister, Paster Oman, helped to find a family home for Axel in which to begin recuperating from his severe illness. that was the home of John and Hanna Holm, parents of daughter Irene Ethel Theresa Holm. Love bloomed for Axel and Irene, and they were married Jan 27, 1915. Two children were born. Ethel Wilhelmina Lund (later RICHARDSON) on Aug 22, 1915, and E. Melvin Lund on Nov 18, 1918 at the grandparents residence of 2304 S. "K" Street, Tacoma, WA. It was back to the copper mine in Butte, Montana for approximately two years. Ethel and Mother Irene followed him there. Then back to Tacoma again for Melvin's birth. By and by, the Lund family moved to a rented home at 2146 S. Ainsworth Street for about seven years. Their church was the Swedish-Finnish Baptist on 23rd & Sheridan Street. Street Cars took Axel to work at various jobs and he industriously saved every nickel he could to buy that 4 lots of ground on S. Sprague Street on which to build their new home. Grandfather John Holm was hired to do much of the carpentry on that. The address was 2338 S. Sprague. Then John and Hanna Holm bought the adjoining 2 lots from Axel and Irene and built their new home there after selling their home at 2304 S. K street. Axel was then called to various other better paying jobs having to do with machinery and construction of mills elsewhere. It was in this way it happened that Mother Irene with Ethel and Melvin, left their new home empty, and went to live in a rented home at Vancouver, WA. From there in June, 1930, they went to Tacoma, WA for hysterectomy surgery on Irene Lund. For lack of the later found penicillin, etc, she died from results of the operation on June 29, 1930. Ethel and Melvin remained in Tacoma with their grandparents, John and Hanna Holm for the next 3 years. Father Axel lived and boarded with his brother Victor Isaacson and wife Ida. Children were Gladys, Ingrid, Lloyd and Doris. Axel supervised and built 5 Veneer plants in Oregon and Washington, owning the one in Crescent City, California, known as West Coast Veneer Company. Axel and Valkyria were married on the 24th of June 1933, at Vancouver, WA, 3 yrs following the death of Ethel and Melvin's mother. She resided many years in Crescent City, CA at a nursing home. They both were members of the United Methodist Church at Crescent City, CA. Axel enjoyed his friends and fishing outings at which he loved to cook "fish and potatoes" for the group, which of course, is the staple of diet for the Swedish people. He was quite well known among the Veneer business people, and respected for his knowledge in machinery and mill operations. He lived one week past his 91st birthday.

iii. Elmer Holm, b. Aft. 1895, Tacoma, WA; d. Abt. 1910.

3. ANNA LOUISA2 ROSENGREN (MISTER1) was born Bef. 1885 in Finland, and died Abt. 1925. She married MISTER RENARD.

Notes for ANNA LOUISA ROSENGREN:
Arrived in America when she was 18. Arrived in New Jersey. Had one daughter Agnes Wilhelmina Renard. She also is buried in Tacoma Cemetery. She died about 1925. We think the Rosengren descendants are living in or near Helsinki Finland.

Child of ANNA ROSENGREN and MISTER RENARD is:
i. Agnes Wilhelmina3 Renard, b. Aft. 1895.
