I am hoping that someone can help me to unravel an ongoing family mystery. I realize that this may be a very sensitive matter, and for that reason I am providing my e-mail address here.
My paternal grandfather was born on August 30 of 1908, probably in New York city. I believe that his social security number may have been 076-07-8728. He was married to Jane Whitehead. His first son was also named William Lord. His second son, my father, was born on June 20 of 1946 and was named Richard Lord. At some point during the 1930's or 1940's my grandfather legally changed the family name from Rose to Lord. He passed in October of 1968, before I was born. No person living at this time knows why this change was made. I would deeply appreciate any help that could be provided in solving this mystery and providing myself and my family with a link to our legitimate heritage.
