John Roark was born in 1816 in TN. He married Phoebe Mainard about 1840 in TN. Phoebe Mainard was born in 1819 in TN. They had 11 children: Susan Catharine; Christopher Columbus; Edy Matilda; Sarah S.; Helen Ellen; Samuel Thomas; William H.; John G.; Mary Ann; Lysander Cooper; and Jefferson Davis. Susan through Helen were born in TN and the rest were born in Carroll Co., Arkansas.
Oral family history says John and Christopher born fought and died in the Civil War. There is documention concerning Christopher's service, but not his death. Christopher served with the 34th Arkansas Infantry. There has not been any conclusive documentation concerning John's service.
In the 1870 census for Jackson Township, Boone County Arkansas, Phoebe is listed as head of household. She is also listed in the 1880 Census in Jackson Township.
There are several of us searching this family tree, any any information on John, his parents or siblings as well as Phoebe, her parents and siblings would be greatly appreciated. If you are descendants of John and Phoebe, please let me know. We have additional information on Samuel Thomas and Lysander Cooper and their families.
