One of our main DNA MATCHES to our ROGERS is from Laurens Co. SC and was ISAAC ROGERS and sons JONES ROGERS and JOSEPH ROGERS among others. These Rogers are then found next in Lincoln Co. TN, and surrounding county, I believe, before they then migrated into Greene Co. MO.

I am not sure where your ROGERS were in SC but we know that many of the ANSON CO. NC ROGERS may have had land in both NC and SC if they lived in Anson ( IE : BENJAMIN ROGERS may be one who is in both Anson Co. NC Files as well as Chesterfield or that region of SC files ). The PEGAS family of Anson owned land in ANSON but I believe their house was in SC, and they went to the same SC Church as did BENJAMIN ROGERS for I found those records at one time.

We also know that a HUMPHREY B. ROGERS of Anson and Union Co's NC married and moved to Anderson SC and that some of his children stayed in Anderson while Humphrey B. Rogers and his wife and remaining children moved to Tuscaloosa AL and after Humphrey B. and his wife died, the children in Tuscaloosa spread out and some went back to Anderson SC while others went to Carroll Co. MS. So far I don't find enough evidence that they are our ROGERS either.

However, you have to remember that Anson Co. NC was the main route to the south and many used that route to migrate from NC into SC and GA and AL/ MS regions.

Our ROGERS have oral history of being Cherokee but we have no records to prove it, and while our Rogers in Arkansas say they inherited half of an Indian blanket, tools and other artifacts, we do know that in the region of Montgomery Co. NC where our Rogers land later lay in 1779 there were earlier tribes there, so Indian artifacts could have been simply found and passed on, I don't know.

Our Rogers migrated out of Carroll Co. TN in 1870 to Boone Co. AR and this region, and few if any are found further south that I have noted so far. However, we do know that some of the Johnson Co. AR lines of ROGERS had also been in Carroll Co. TN where my Rogers lived prior to their then migrating to that region of Johnson Co. AR sometime prior to 1840. We also know that one man named J. R. Rogers of Johnson Co. AR also bought land in Boone Co. AR and left Johnson Co. AR for Boone Co. AR after our Rogers then migrated to Boone Co. AR from Carroll Co. TN.

So sometimes you can't overlook minor details that seem unimportant because you have nothing to say they are connected to other ROGERS lines. It is so difficult to research ROGERS in NC and SC as so many of the records are missing.

Tina
