I would love to know if your RORIE surname is in fact MacRORY ? If so, we know DNA on my WILLIAM L. ROGERS line in Montgomery Co. NC and ANSON CO. NC have markers showing we are an ANCIENT SCOTS line, not ENGLISH. We did two HAPLOGROUP TESTS as well and it showed with the latest haplogroup test SNP L-21 that we tested "POSITIVE" to be a haplogroup associated with the MACRORY surname of SCOTLAND who were ANCIENT SCOTS MERCENARIES who went to IRELAND and changed their name from MACRORY to ROGERS at some point in history. Today the MacRORY surname is no longer found in IRELAND but they are in AMERICA. Also we know that the CLANS of many SCOTTISH families in that Anson Co. NC region later are in SC and have records showing they were living near their other surnames associated with that CLAN back in Scotland. Could your RORIE surname be shortened from MacRORY ? Many of our DNA ROGERS matches are in VA/ NC/ SC/ AL/ MS/ GA/ TN/ AR and we know they are later all in TX and OK as well as other western states. Do some more digging on your RORIE and ROGERS line and see if they have any other ROGERS not associated with yours who are living near them as they migrated into SC ? If you can't find more on your ROGERS perhaps you can on the RORIES and that may in fact help you determine if they were the MACRORY family or at one time associated with other ROGERS who may be SCOTS as well ?
