After the Roquemore family landed at Charleston in 1764, they moved with their group of Hughuenots and founded New Bordeaux on Long Cane Creek in SC, just off the Savannah R., above Augusta.James moved to GA about 1766.He died in Warren Co GA in 1803.His son James was born in 1780 and married 16 year old Elizabeth Thorpe in 1802 and lived on his father's farm which he inherited.By 1820, James moved to the Clinton sedtion of Jones Co. GA.Elizabeth died in 1825 and he married Mary Jane Black
(nee James) in 1825.They had five children:
Mary in 182?, Joseph B./Jefferson T. (twins) in 1831; Franklin Lafayette in 1833 and Martha in 1855.James Jr. died April 25, 1865, at his daughter's home in Fort Valley GA.By then, most of his children had moved to Alabama or to other Georgia counties.
This info came from "The Roquemores" which is chapter two in "Roots, Rocks & Recollections" by Nell Roquemore in 1989.
Sorry I overlooked this earlier (I forgot that it contained more than the info up to and including James Roquemore (Pierre Jacques?) Sr.)Dave Reese
