"C.W. Boogaart": you write in your posting #182 this forum,
"...USA investigation here started in the 1920s so BEFORE
FDR's death." you missed my point. The research that
comenced in the 1920s continued thru 1938--YET, cousin
President Franklin Roosevelt, the family genealogist,
repudiated Zeeland and said, based on HYDE PARK ROOSEVELT
family tradition that the Roosevelts came from somewhere
near HAARLEM, NORTH HOLLAND. My point is that AFTER his
death this c. 300-yrs. family tradition of where we American
Roosevelts came from began to fade, be ignored and lost
so that the post-FDR death generations of the family have
become acquisent & sudduced "believing" that Zeeland is
the HOLLAND-cradle of the American Roosevelts. That
was my point. And let's not be naive, the realpolitik &
real economik is that there is a lot of money, power, &
prestige with the lucrativeness of the Roosevelt Study
Center being located in Zeeland--and locating my 3-famous
Roosevelts' roots here adds to that lucativeness. Then
comes a ROOSEVELT-descendant, me, concurring with cousin
President Franklin Roosevelt that we came from near
HAARLEM, NORTH HOLLAND, and, as such as well, open to the
possiblity that we may very in the dim, distant past be
JEWISH.
This connects in with what you write in said same posting:
"why would you think". Back in December, 2000, as a
ROOSEVELT-descendant & as a member of the Theodore Roosevelt
Association, I submitted a short article entitled
"A Roosevelt Descendant Commentary on the Origin of the
Roosevelt Family" to be published the Theodore Roosevelt
Association Journal that identified by branch of the
ROOSEVELTS and as to why I dissent the Tholen/Zeeland
business by resurrecting cousin FDR's 1938 repudiation
of Tholen/Zeeland, his stating the family tradition that
we came from somewhere near HAARLEM, NORTH HOLLAND,
and my acknowledgement that we are originally SPANISH JEWS
descended from the ROSSACAMPO family. I enumerated my
sources within the article. To my knowledge and to this date the said submitted article has never been published
in the said Journal. Instead, I transcribed it on this
website, this forum posting dated 10/16/01 in reply to
Dawn's posted query re: "Birth of Claes Martenszen van
Rosenvelt". Then, 8/1/03 posting #124, Ms. Milano's
reply to Dawn, she write's: "the claims circulated by
Gregory Thompson. Most of these claims arose during
or shortly before World War II by German and American
Anti-Semities wanting to discredit the current President
of the United States." What she writes takes what I
have written on this website, this forum out of context
as a strategy to divert the foucus away from cousin
FDR's 1938 Delgado interview & FDR's old friend Gov. Chase
S. Osborn's explaining & enumeration of souces, in 1935,
regards the Roosevelt family's/FDR's SPANISH JEWISH-ancestry
and in FDR's talmudic response to his old friend he did
not deny we were not JEWISH but was open-minded to the
possibility that we could have been JEWISH in our distant
past. According to the "General Information" put out
by the Roosevelt Study Center, Middelburg, Zeeland, the
Netherlands "...it was named after three famous Americans,
WHOSE ANCESTORS EMIGRATED FROM ZEELAND, THE NETHERLANDS,
TO THE NEW WORLD IN THE SEVENTEENTH CENTURY: President Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919), President Franklin D.
Roosevelt (1882-1945), and Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962)."
Is being propigated as a historical fact & purposely and
selectively ignores THE ORIGINAL-genealogical family
tradition of the Roosevelt's coming from somewhere near
HAARLEM, NORTH HOLLAND as stated by cousin President
Franklin Roosevelt in said 1938 interview with Virginia
Pearce Delgado and his repudiation of Tholen/Zeeland
as a grand publicity stunt to attract tourist off the
beaten tract. The said Roosevelt Study Center cooperates
with the Theodore Roosevelt Association per info given
the Center's own literature its website. Next, I direct
your attention to the Winter, 1990-issue of the Theodore
Roosevelt Association Journal the article entitled
"The Roosevelt Family in America: A Genealogy" , Part I,
pg. 3: "The story of the Roosevelt family in America
begins with an immigrant couple who came to New Amsterdam
(now New York City) from the Netherlands in the seventeenth
century. The date of their arrival is UNCERTAIN and their
ORIGINS in THE NETHERLANDS is OBSCURE..., the Dutch roots
of the Roosevelts. In the seventeenth and eighteenth
centuries, A Roosevelt family appears in the village
of Oud-Vossemeer on theIsland of Tholen in the Province
of Zeeland in the Netherlands. The American Roosevelts
ADOPTED the coat-of-arms of the Oud-Vossemeer-Tholen-
Zeeland Roosevelts as their own; and Allen Churchill,
Nathan Miller, and other historians accept the Zeeland
connection as the PROBABLE origin of the American Roosevelts
...The Province of Zeeland has commemorated the Dutch roots
of the Roosevelts...by establishing , in 1986, the Roosevelt
Study Center for Europe, dedicated to Theodore Roosevelt,
Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Eleanor Roosevelt..."
FDR's repudiation of Tholen/Zeeland was right. Also, not
one mention is made of THE ORIGINAL & OLDER genealogial
knowledge of the family itself that we Roosevelts came
from near HAARLEM, NORTH HOLLAND. Also, note the Journal's
circular-language trying to connect to the southern Holland
Roosevelts of Oud-Vossemeer, Tholen, Zeeland. But there
is NO "proof" nor evidence--NOT even a family tradition--
of the American Roosevelts being in any way connected to
the Vossemeer Roosevelts. While there may not be "proof"
of a HAARLEM, NORTH HOLLAND connection either--at least
there is a c. 300-yrs. old Roosevelt family tradition of
we American Roosevelts having came from somewhere near
HAARLEM, NORTH HOLLAND. The Journal's claim that the
American Roosevelts "adopted" the arms of the Oud-Vossemer-
Tholen Zeeland Roosevelts as their own is fiction. The
two coats-of-arms are entirely & completely different.
The design of our arms & our crest of the 3-ostrich plumes
is that of a NORTH HOLLAND coat-of-arms. The only thing
the American Roosevelts adopted from the Oud-Vossemeer-
Tholen-Zeeland Roosevelts is their motto in order to
propigate this Zeeland-business.
In closing, the American Roosevelts and the Vossemeer
Roosevelts are two different NON-related distinct families.
Our Roosevelts [ROSENVELT] are from near HAARLEM, NORTH
HOLLAND, and originally SEPHARDIC JEWS derived/descended
from the ROSSACAMPO familia. Respectfully yours, Gregory
Thompson, a ROOSEVELT-descendant & the dissenting ROOSEVELT,
my 7th-gread grandmother is ANNA MARGARIET BOOSEVELT m.
Heyman Aldertsu Roosa the JEW my 7th-great grandfather,
she is the daughter of our MARRANO-immigrant ancestor
CLAES MARTENSZEN van;ROSENVELT/ROSENFELT from HOLLAND.
