are "BLACK DUTCH"--all are of SPANISH ORIGIN & left SPAIN
due to religious troubles fleeing the INQUISICION seeking
asylum in the SPANISH NETHERLANDS. As such, these families
are not going to leave much of a paper-trail of the kind of
SOURCES you are expecting. The way persons from the
MARRANO & from the "BLACK DUTCH" experience perserved their
history is mainly "oral tradition" passed generation-to-generation. For background, perspective, and sources recommend wesites dealing with the MARRANO-experience &
recommend websites dealing with the "BLACK DUTCH".
The ROOSAs are MARRANOS; the ROOSEVELTs are MARRANOS;
the KORTRIGHTs were CONVERSOS/MARRANOS who became SPANISH
CALVINISTES. All 3-families end-up in GELDERLAND, HOLLAND,
a heavily SPANISH influenced DUTCH PROVINCE as contained
my SPANISH FAMILIES who fled SPAIN the SPANISH INQUSICION
seeking religious freedom in HOLLAND. A contemporary
MARRANO-experience I recommend to you is THE MEZUZAH IN THE
MADONNA'S FOOT: MARRANOS AND OTHER SECRET JEWS by
Trudi Alexy (1993/94). And a parellel & related experience
I recommend are the MELUNGEON-websites.
Feldman, a fellow JEW, had access to CONGREGATION SHEARITH
ISRAEL. Also, there is a land transaction in which ARIEN
ROOSA is refered as a "PORTUGESE JEW". Then, there is the
family history passed generation-to-generation within the
MARRANO-experience that would be a gross mistake to dismiss
because it does not live-up to your expectation of SOURCES.
Coming from this experience, family history passed orally
generation-to-generation is just as valid a source, if not
MORE valid, than any written documentaion of the type of
