For your information John and Elizabeth had 13 known children. Sons John, Russell, and William H. pre-deceased the father and are therefore not mentioned in the will. Russell had only one child: William Ballard Roop. John had four children but only Harriet and Thomas lived. William H. apparently never married and died at age 22. Elswick was another son. His name was not John Elswick.
As for the marriages you found:
1. Eliza Jane Roop m. William Elkins 22 Jan 1846 Pulaski VA
This one I have listed as Thomas W. Elswich (sic, Elswick in census) md. Eliza Jane Roop on 17 March 1846 in Pulaski County, Virginia. Eliza Jane was the daughter of John and Elizabeth.
2. Elizabeth Roop m. Francis Jurnell 5 Feb 1844
I list the husband's surname as Jernell as seen in the census. Elizabeth was the daughter of John's sister Mary "Polly" Roop.
FYI John's daughter Elizabeth married her cousin Sebastian William Rupe, a son of Mary "Polly" Roop.
I located the obituary of Roy Raines Roop who died in 2004. Did his first wife die before he married Edna abt. 1957. Are both of his sons from his marriage to Katherine?
