I sent a message to you at your e-mail address and was informed that you might not get it and that I should reply through the forum. So I am making sure that you get it.
YES! I know your Nancy Foster. I believe she was my great grandfather's second wife. In my first message to you I stated that my great grandfather James Henry Roof had proven very elusive. I even journeyed to western Missouri this summer to look for information. I did find his grave in the Pleasant Hill, Cass County Cemetery. He is the father of my grandfather John Franklin Roof who was born and raised in the Pleasant Hill, Cass County, Missouri area in 1872. Jame Henry Roof's first wife (my gr.grandmother) was Sadah Grubbs. Unusual for the time, they were divorced. My grandmother Rose Ward(John Franlkin' wife) never spoke of it. One of my cousins found a copy of James Henry Roof'sdeath certificate which stated that his parents were born in Michigan. But we still couldn't connect him with Michigan or any other Roofs in Missouri.BUT after I e-mailed you the above information, I reread your message and realized that YES! I know your Nancy Foster. She was my great grandfather James Henry's second wife. Your Sarah and my grandfather are step-sister and step-brother. I am so excited.
Do you have information about James Henry's parentage. I have become interested in a very old line of New York and Pennsylvania Roofs who seemed to be a restless group that after the Revolution began to move into the Ohio River Valley and into Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. I have never been able to connect my Roofs with them. This may be the key. Thank you so much. I am sorry if you receive two sets of messages.
