Two marriages each for Samuel Black and Ann Elizabeth Roof
This is just what I believe.....I have no proof except for the obit of Elizabeth and the census records.
Elizebeth's obit states that she was born in 1808 and was married at age 22 (about 1830) to Peter Warner. They had 3 children, one of which died in infancy. It states that after being a widow for 5 years, she married Samuel Black. It states that they had four children born to them: Hanna, Ann, John and David. Elizabeth's first husband died about 1838; so, she probably married Samuel about 1842/43.
In the 1850 census with husband, Samuel Black, there are 3 other children listed: James K., b. 1831; Elizabeth, b. 1833 and Ruth, b. 1834. If there is any truth to the obit, it would not be possible for these three children to belong to Elizabeth Warner Black.
It is my belief that Samuel had to have been married before; and, these 3 children were his from his first marriage.
I have also found census records for the two Warner children........at least I believe them to be the correct children: Jacob R. Warner and Isaac W. Warner. They were listed in the obit as J. R. Warner and "J." W. Warner.
If anyone agrees or disagrees with this, please let me know.
