in New France cannot be dated with absolute certainty but we do know that in the spring of 1663 he was contracted by Bishop Laval to work on his seigneury at Quebec. That same spring Pierre also drew up a last will and testament with the Notary Teuleron in LaRochelle, leaving some of his personal possessions to his older brother for having lodged him in LaRochelle before his departure for the new world. I found the following site that lists known ships, passengers names along with comments from the beginings of New France till the conquest. http://naviresnouvellefrance1700.iquebec.com/ The entire site is in French so I have translated the following comments on the 2 kings ships(La Flute Royale and L'Aigle d'Or)that arrived in Quebec in 1663. I am quite certain that Pierre arrived on one of these 2 vessels. News of the arrival of two King’s ships comes to Quebec on September 7th,1663. Two of the passengers, the bishop Francois de Laval and the governor’s secretary, Louis Peronne, sieur de Maze, came by lifeboat from Tadoussac on the 15th while the two ships landed on September 22nd. The crossing was very difficult as 60 passengers died at sea, 75 were left in Newfoundland and 159 others who disembarked at Quebec were in an appalling state. The councillor Louis Rouer de Villeray wrote a letter to the king dated on the 18th of June, 1664 that there were only 20 men ready to work, the others were so weak that they could barely stand. As it was 38 passangers were taken to the hospital where 12 died. Any errors in translation are mine. Notify Administrator about this message?
