Surname: DURA (DORE?) in Romania?
Posted by: Kyla MacKenzie Date: January 08, 1999 at 22:50:15

Have recently started to research my maternal roots, and was told that my great-grandfather, George DURA(possibly DORE) and grandmother were born and raised in Romania. George's father was Ion Dura(possibly DORE). George and his wife immigrated to the province of Quebec in Canada in the very early 1900's. They had a son, my late grandfather. He was born, Jean DORE, but we knew him as John DURA).
I was wondering if anyone out there may know anything about the DORE or DURA surname in Romania. Is it a common name?
Any help you could give me on my family or the surnames would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Kyla MacKenzie
