Hello Evanne,

I have a familienbuch prepared by the president of the Semlak HOG. It is for the Reformed Church. My great grandmother was Elizabeth Grunwald (born 1843) but she was Evangelische (Lutheran). Perhaps she is related to your grandmother. My mother's cousin married a Haibach. My family came to the US in the early 1900s -- first to Harrisburg, PA and then a large group of them moved to Rochester, NY. There were Hirschs, Schillings, Grunwalds among them -- all family friends.

Re the Reformed familienbuch -- in the forward, if I read the German correctly, a Georg Hirsch and Nikolaus Schilling were among the first settlers in the Semlak Reformed church and came from Balmazujvaros in 1823. I found a Susanna Hirsch who married Peter Fogd, Anna Hirsch who married Peter Muller and Katharina Hirsch who married Martin Meszinger.

The Semlak HOG president is currently working on the Familienbuch of the Evang. Church -- where I'm sure there'll be more info for both of us.

However, if you would like me to send you the Reformed Familienbuch, just contact me at britcommem@aol.com.

Rose Mary
