Yes, the Internet has made gathering information a lot easier than it used to be. My email address is: I have been able to locate a possible relative in Bucharest through the various genealogy boards and forums. A cousin of mine by marriage, had done his whole family history 20 years ago without benefit of Web sites etc, and he has been guiding me through various sources. His family also came from the Bucovina area in the eary 1900s and he has been to Romania six or seven times and speaks the language fluently. I have considered hiring a Romanian-based genealogist to do some of the leg work because of the unavailability of online sources. I have been able to get some documents, including a copy of by grandfather's baptism certificate from 1866. But it is a painstakingly slow process which is one reason I have been considering using the Bucharest-based genealogist. I did get copies of the land grants my grandfather secured in 1907 and 1917 from the Canadian archives, but there are many gaps to fill.
