My Great grandfather was Isidore Nussbaum, a pubkeeper from Gyulafehervar, Hungary, which is now Alba Iula, Romania. He had 2 sons, Farkas, born 1872, and Bernath (Bertzie) born 1882. He may have had a daughter, possibly named Lillian. Bertzie married Bertha (Berta) Herzlinger, in 1905. She was previously engaged to a doctor. Bertzie was a housepainter, and also a singer, and she broke off the engagement to marry him. She had one son, Eugene, born in Budapest, 1906. Bertzie came to the US - the Bronx, before he was born, and Berta followed shortly after. They had 5 more children born in the US. Berta Herzlinger was from a well to do family, who probably owned a general store in Gyulafehervar. I don't know much about her family. Her mother's maiden name was Sukerburger. She may have had sisters. One relative, Arunka (Irene) Herzlinger also came to the US. They were Jewish, and identified as Hungarians. Berta and Bertzie are my grandparents. If anyone has any information on Gyulafehervar, Alba Iula, the Nussbaum, Herzlinger, or Sukerburger family, or just general information on the Jewish community there, I would like to hear from you. Also, Farkas married Jenny Jacobs, so I would also be interested on info on the Jacobs family. Thank you. Deadra
