Thanks again Zlatica for info, especially for clarification about spelling of last name. After Mihalo came to Canada, the surname was spelled however it was heard by the recorder. I have lots of documents and every single one has a different spelling of his names.

My grandparents were RUTHENIANS (Ukrainians)and you're right, Greek Orthodox. I am surprised that the Bukovina Society is so Germanic. I am guessing that during wars, the German victors would decimate towns and then send German people there to repopulate it.

I have been unable to find any documents showing my grandfather's arrival in Canada, though I did find g'mother's in 1913. They arrived separately.

The surname link was very interesting. Thanks so much.
