I have been going with the idea that my grandfather's date of birth was April 4, 1899. This date is what the funeral home gave me when I inquired. I'm not sure now from what information source they would have had this date coming from. (I'll have to ask them further). It may well have been just what my father and uncle as his sons (and the informants) had provided. I'm now wondering the validity of that date (1899).
Do you know if funeral homes would need some document to substantiate dates, or would they go by what the informant would say/provide?
I'm trying to seek records on his Canadian citizenship/application. Perhaps that would provide definitive information.
