Rec'd Social Security SS-5F form for my grandfather. His father's name was Zachary-probably Zacharia. His mother's maiden name was Anna Campen- probably Campean or Campian(Several are in the Sighsoara area per the Romanian White Pages). Mo other information such as the date of entry was listed. Also visted the local Romanian Orthodox church( St. Elias in Ellwood City,PA and found baptismal records for my father and my uncle. Per the baptismal records, the spelling shown for my granfather's last name is Socaci from Sard, Romania now Ellwood City, PA. God parents were Nicolae and Ghisela Cheleman from Sighisoara, Romania and now of Ellwood City, PA. Wile at the church-met a very nice Romanian women who emigrated from Benat. She is going to translate a letter for me. She stated that teh truly prper spelling of the last name was Socaciu. She stated that other spellings were either Hungarian versions( Szakacs) forced upon the Romanians or unschooled Romanian versions(Socaci). Still waiting fro the Dept. of Homeland Security to provide a complete listing of all records the government has on my grandfather.
Also, still trying to find out how to get local records form Mures County.
