this story is almost a fairy tale. i'm looking for anyone with any links to Stefan O. IOSIF, a great poet of romania
his mother's name, we believe, is Maria IOSIF. she was a Jewish singer for a prince's court (i'm not sure of the prince's name at that time). she was having an affair with him and she had 3 sons with him. she never married him. he only recognized the first two sons, Gheorghe IOSIF, and Stefan O. IOSIF. Gheorghe was a General of a section of the romanian army and Stefan became one of the greatest poets of romania. the third son, was not recognized by the prince, for reasons that are unknown, so Maria had to give him up for adoption. He was adopted into the NEGREANU family in Giurgiu and worked for them, as a slave. he was given up when he was about 3 or 4 years old. at that time when maria gave him up there was a famine in northern romania so she probably wasn't able to feed him. i am one of his great-grandaughters. i believe his name was ION. my family believes this story to be true because St. O. IOSIF wrote about a brother that he never knew in one of his poems and my great-grandfather always used to talk about his two bothers that he knew exsisted but he never met them.
if any one knows anything about this or has any link to St. O. IOSIF please please feel free to email me and give me any details you can. thank you!
