Hello Everyone:

I visited the Zakarpatska area of Ukraine last week. I managed to take a bus out to Lysychovo from Mukacheve, but was told there that the Catholic Church had been destroyed. No one at the post office had heard of my Hungarian family names, NIGRINYI and KUVIK. The old people there seemed to think Kuvik was a Slovakian name.

It is really difficult to get around without speaking any Ukrainian. I sent a letter (form letter in Ukrainian) to the mayor of the Zakarpatska Oblast, but never received a reply. I am in Maramures, Romania right now and have to be back in Budapest by Aug. 30 to fly home to the States. Does anyone have any suggestions? I did meet a woman in the village who was very helpful and took down my info, but I didn't really know what do do next as far as finding relatives.
