My grandmother did not speak English and never worked outside of the home. There were so many name changes in my mother's family that it has become difficult to find links to my family or to complete our tree.

I was told that the names were changed do to Americans not being able to understand how to pronounce the names or do to discrimination when applying for work.

I will look for a Social Security Number. I think that she would have needed one to collect my Grandfather's benefits. Thank you for the suggestions. I will let you know how my journey turns out.
If you can come up with any other information, please let me know.
Fayleslie
