Actually, yes. Our great-grandfather Misu (Michael) Calmy emigrated from Bucharest to San Francisco via Ellis Island. He was followed by his brother Henry Calmy, sister Ernestine Alcalay/family, mother Sophie Calmy, and the Samuel Laxer family. All of the above were listed as Romanian Hebrew on the passenger records. Samuel Laxer's wife was Rebecca, and they had three daughters that we know of. These were Sophie, Eugenie and Antoinette. I don't know what happened to Sophie, but Eugenie married Michael Calmy, and Antoinette married Henry Calmy. After time in San Francisco, the family spread out to areas like San Jose, and down into Riverside County and LA County.

I would be very interested to know your lineage, to see if there is a connection, seeing as how I'm having a LOT of trouble following the Calmy/Laxer lines.
