Dear Myrna, Thank you for your message. I am a member of the Caragata Family of Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan, Canada. Are you perchance connected to my family, or do you know some of my cousins? Regarding our Romanian origins, I have discovered that there are only about 60 or 70 telephone listings for Caragata in all of Romania, population about 22,000,000. Canada, with 32,000,000 people, has about 30 listings for Caragata, & we are all members of the same family. Therefore I am inclined to believe that there is a good chance that most or all of the Romanian Caragatas may have originated from the same stock. I have corresponded by Email with a young Caragata in Bucharest whose grandfather hailed from a small village just south of Rimnicu-Sarat, in the same district where my Grandfather, Stefan Marin Caragata, is said to have been born. Does anyone know if the Mormons have begun filming the church records of Romania?
Cheers! Count Caragata
