ty, Zlatica! If you only knew the odd circumstances surrounding my mother's heritage, who was a Porumbescu. She had many siblings, all deceased including herself. Each one took some deep dark secret to their graves and would not speak of it. Two mysteries remain: 1.) Why did the Porumbescu's flee Romania - that is my grandfather John and Pandora. The last remaining sibling of my mother, did say, a family fued resulting in murder caused my grandparents to flee. 2.) And of course, the question of real concern: Is Ciprian related to us in any way. I have addressed those 18 letters to Porumbescu's in Bucaresti ( I thank you for that listing in the Romanian white pages ). I am at this moment also checking with the Romanian Consulate in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. If after all this, nothing turns up, then that deep-dark family secret definitely has a life of its own. I shall keep you informed as to my progress. I would so love to find out that the great Romanian composer, Ciprian Porumbescu was my great uncle or great grandfather as I am undergoing a radical identity crisis at the moment. However, I understand Ciprian died in prison at the age of 28, having been incarerated for 6 years, since he was 22. There is so little information on him in any website, even google search engine. Only that he was a political activist with a plight for the peasants (which probably got him put in prison) and also his music and conservatories.
