I am looking for information on my husband's grandmother, Lenuta C. Halepliu, and her family.
Lenuta was born July 31, 1901 in Horezu, district of Vilcea. She died July 11, 1962 in Detroit Michigan.
She emigrated to the United States in 1922. She married his grandfather Marin Simescu, also a Romanian emigrant in 1923. (see other posting with Simescu in title)
Lenuta's parents were Constantin Halepliu and Elena Ionescu (Elena Constantin Halepliu was her married name). Elena died in 1968 in Horezu. We do not know when Constantin died, but we do know he was a clerk for the courthouse in Vilcea.
Lenuta's sister was Ecaterina who died in 1980. Ecaterina was married to Gheorghe (Gugu) Ionescu. We do not know when Gheorghe died, but we do have a letter from him dated 1980 that has given us a lot of information we would not otherwise have. He was 80 when he wrote the letter. Ecaterina & Gheorghe were both clerks at the Central Post Office in Bucharest.
Lenuta also had a brother named Nicolae Halepliu, but we believe he died in 1935. Location of his death is unknown.
We are very curious to know anything about the Halepliu line, as well as any information about Gheorghe Ionescu's death and living relatives. He wrote a very sweet letter to my husband's family trying to make a connection, but it is unclear if the letter was ever answered. His wife Ecaterina had recently died (we think) when the letter was written.

We are also traveling to Romania in a couple of weeks and would like any information that my help us to do research there. We are hoping that posting these inquiries will give us a jump start.

Thank you,
Ginger & Marcus
