For locating a town that the spelling might be in question or is from the old regime go to :
http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm

Yes, there is a town name KATALOI (Cataloi) in Romania.

The Romanian phone site is at
http://www.whitepages.ro if you want to look if anyone stayed behind.

Search www.google.com for a Banat region / German site.
I know there is one but I do not have it in my files to type it out.

There might be some church films that the LDS-Mormons might have filmed so check out their website if they have some for this village.

Do not overlook Ellis Island website even if your ancestors did go to Canada. There might be a branch of the family that came to America.
