Thank you for your prompt reply to my request.

You have somewhat confirmed our beliefs on the name. Through conversations in the past the name PANTA was mentioned and some relatives believed that is how it was back in the old country. Due to illiteracy A's could have been changed to O's.

It sounds like you are very knowledgable about Romania.
Would you know if Chernovits (in the Ukraine) was ever part of Romania during the early 1900's? I undersatand the borders changed frequently. I am trying to substantiate where my Grandmother came from. In her obituary she is mentioned coming from Romania. Other tidbits claim she came from Chernovits??
