The Hungarian Village Finder, Atlas, and Gazetteer for the Kingdom of Hungary (HVF) on CD-ROM:
is absolutely the BEST source for locating any and all villages, settlements, towns, etc, that were located in the old Kingdom of Hungary because it includes the old names, new names and current locations, and names in German if there were Germans living in the villages plus a whole lot of other variations of place names, as well.
According to the HVF, all 3 of your places are the German names. To find these places on the old maps, you need to know what they were called in Hungarian. To find them on new maps, you need to know what country they are currently located in and what their names are now.
Here is some info and map links for you from the HVF--
Gros Kappisch(Koppisch) was actually Gross-Kopisch in German but more important, NAGYKAPUS in the Kingdom of Hungary. NAGYKAPUS was located in Bólya-Berethalom Járás, Nagy-Küküllő Megye. Here is a link to the old map from Eötvös University, Department of Cartography:
Today, NAGYKAPUS is in Romania and called Copsa Mare.
Mediach was Mediasch or Medwisch in German, and MEDGYES in the old Kingdom of Hungary. MEDGYES was also located in Bólya-Berethalom Járás, Nagy-Küküllő Megye (same as above). Today it is also in Romania and called Medias. You can use the same map above to find it.
Gros Propsdorf(Probstdorf) was Grossprobstdorf in German and NAGYEKEMEZÖ in the old Kingdom of Hungary. NAGYEKEMEZÖ was located in the old Hosszuaszó Járás, Kis-Küküllő Megye
and can be found on this map:
Today, it is in Romania, as well, and called Tarnava.
For more information, about each of these places you might want to take a look at the Hungarian Village Finder advertisement site to see all that is offered on the CD-ROM.
Hope this helps and good luck,
