I have done endless searching on this name, and have come up with nothing. I don't have much to go on from those who did make it here to the US. Here is what I know....
My greatgrandfather, Louis Martin Voivod was born 11/21/1895, somewhere in Romania. Approx. 1907, he came to the US, possibly with 1 or 2 others. He ended up in Ohio. Married, had 2 sons. Died in Calif. in 1963.
Now, usually nothing will come up for Voivod when I search, but sometimes the word "Voivoda" comes up. Does anyone know what this means? There are only 3 living Voivods in the US...This making it so rare, could there be a possibility that this name was not even my ancestors name? Could they have just "taken on" this name? Is it a misspelling???
Please, anyone who has any information on Voivod, or tips on what I should do or anyone who has even heard of this name, please contact me!!!
