does not have a place name called Kavasan as you have spelled it. The closest I can find that is now in Romania would be Kavarán, which, if you got the name from the ellisisland.org website, is proabably the place you are looking for. Kavarán was in the old Temes Járás, Krassó-Szörény Megye. Today it is in Romania and called Cavaran (with two little "v's" over the first two "a's").
