All I can tell you is that Ratiu is a name commonly found only in Transylvania ( W, NW part of Romania). One famous individual, Ion Ratiu died in 1995 I think, and he ran for president in 1992 Romania's presidential elections. He also founded a very popular romanian newspaper, "Cotidianul" - "The Daily". www.cotidianul.ro
Szabo is not a romanian name, but is found again through Transylvania in the hungarian minority that lives there.
